SMART AND SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING SOLUTIONS

A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

At Snapp Packaging, we have always advocated the importance of brand image, identity, reputation, and equity. Is your brand standing.

At Snapp Packaging, we preach smart and sustainable eco-friendly packaging solutions. In fact, since we realigned our company mission in 2019, we have never looked back and the only packaging solutions that we offer – from carton boxes to protective cushioning both inside and outside the box – are entirely and only eco-friendly options. We have completely done away with conventional and traditional one-use packaging solutions.

This mindset shift of ours proved to me and our valued clients that sustainable packaging does more than just commit to a better Mother Earth. It optimises and evolves the entire supply chain. It is change that gradually shifts and aligns the way we do business towards a more sustainable one as well through reduced expenses on utilities, smart and savvy use of energy, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels, optimising logistics and freight, encouraging reusing of resources, and so much more. Far from just promoting and practicing environmental responsibility, the benefits can be felt through:

  1. Focusing on brand reputation and becoming brand savvy
Don’t just take my word for it, but ask big and long-lasting brands out there and they will tell you that great packaging creates greater consumer value towards their products. Sustainable packaging boosts brands’ public image beyond just goodwill and positive perception; it speaks of forward-thinking, contemporary, and a “I give a damn about what I do, and I am going to play my part” character.

On another note, brands stand out through market differentiation. Across the competition, key differentiation can play that small but significant role in keeping products standing out from traditional. I myself am still often surprised at how environmentally-conscious consumers are these days, and brand loyalty is translated from your brand values when it aligns with consumer values. Please always keep this in mind when you are building a brand.

  1. Optimising operational costs
Eco-friendly and sustainable packaging costs more than conventional packaging, but the supply and value chain are evolving. Markets are constantly in flux and competition and innovation is spurring change in the cost of producing eco-friendly packaging. Eco-friendly packaging actually uses fewer materials as they often incorporate recycled materials. The end product is a carry case, carton box, protective cushioning, or finishing material that is more efficiently designed, compact, lighter, and thus reducing shipping costs.

Furthermore, substantial cost savings not occur in freight and transportation, but also in reduced waste management, utilities, and raw material procurement. And with logistics, space management is another topic to talk about, and earth-friendly packaging is efficient in the usage of space as they require less space for storage and transportation. Ideas to perhaps expand your product line?

  1. Regulation, regulations, and regulations
A writer named Cullen Hightower once said, “Discipline without freedom is tyranny; freedom without discipline is chaos.” Organisations devote more time and resources to maintain regulatory compliance in today’s business landscape, and as much as we can be annoyed with needing to work to compliance, I like to think this is a collective effort that sees businesses needing to evolve the way we do things. Collective effort in the both internally within our company and organisation, but also externally around our community and environment. Everybody’s now a part of it, whether we like it or not.

Countries, governments, and intergovernmental organisations all across the globe are tightening regulations and working to reduce waste, intensify recycling efforts, and adopting mandatory environmentally sustainable activities with the aim to create a better tomorrow. If it took ESG scores to get someone moving, it definitely got the ball rolling. As we adapt to the new landscape, best we improve the way we do things and translate these changes into sustainable profits.

  1. Free of allergens
Take allergies and the immune system into consideration at times when using packaging especially for food. Not to mention we handle packaging pretty frequently enough to warrant concern. Food allergens are on the rise, especially among children, and some packaging materials, edible films, and surface coatings may contain allergens.

Eco-friendly packaging are free from allergens and toxins. The biodegradable ones are becoming more accepting and available while seeing a reduction in cost, and these take a step further in creating truly as natural a product as we can get for better health and well-being.

Learning something new everyday is good. Implementing what we learn is better. I am becoming more conscious about what I choose in life (I am not old, just wiser!) and prefer taking a long-term view when it comes to both business and life for the 3P’s: People, Planet, and Prosperity.
